We try our best to accommodate our patients as much as possible when scheduling appointments. We have found that children with extensive dental work or preschool children are better to be seen early in the morning when they are fresher and can have a more positive experience. Some appointments may require the child to miss some school; however, these are considered excused absences. With continued care, appointments during school can be kept to a minimum.
Your scheduled appointment has been reserved specifically for your child. If you must cancel or reschedule, please call our office at least 24 hours in advance so that we may see another patient during that time. If two (2) missed appointments or cancellations occur without at least 24 hour notice, we reserve the right to NOT schedule any subsequent appointments. Additionally, if you arrive 15 minutes late for your appointment, our staff may request that you reschedule. We are aware that unforeseen events sometimes require missing an appointment, but we ask for your help as a courtesy to all of our patients.
We strive to stay on schedule with all of our patients. Please keep in mind that rarely we have to accommodate an injured child or an emergency, which could cause a delay. Please accept our apologies in advance if this occurs during your appointment time. If it is your child’s first appointment at Schmidt Pediatric Dentistry, please plan on arriving at least 15 minutes early to complete any necessary paperwork.
Payment of your bill is considered a part of your child’s treatment. We will be happy to file a claim if you carry dental insurance. In return, you must be responsible for bringing your insurance card, any other pertinent numbers and your driver’s license so that we may keep a copy for our records. You are responsible for the balance that is not covered by your insurance company.
Every effort will be made to provide a treatment plan which fits your timetable and budget, and gives your child the best possible care. We accept cash, personal checks, and major credit cards. Also, we offer payment arrangements and financing through Care Credit. In rare circumstances, an account balance may occur. Schmidt Pediatric Dentistry requires all outstanding balances to be paid in full by thirty (30) days unless other arrangements have been made.
Our office is happy to file your insurance for you. We will make every effort to assure you receive maximum benefits. However, you must be familiar with your insurance benefits, as we will collect from you the estimated amount insurance is not expected to pay. By law, your insurance company is required to pay each claim within 30 days of receipt. We file all insurance claims electronically so that your insurance company will receive each claim within days of treatment. You are responsible for any balance on your account after 30 days, whether the insurance has paid or not. We will gladly refund any credit balance once your insurance has paid.
Please understand that dental insurance is a contract between you, your employer, and the insurance company. We are not a party to that contract. We only file dental insurance as a courtesy to our patients. Dental insurance is not meant to cover all fees. It is meant to be an aid to your investment in your child's dental healthcare. Most plans cover about 40-50% of average fees. Some plans pay more, some less. We can only assist you in estimating your portion of the cost of treatment; we at no time guarantee what your insurance will or will not do with each claim. We also cannot be responsible for any errors in filing your insurance; once again we file claims as a courtesy to you.
Please do not hesitate to ask our courteous staff about our financial policy. We want you to be comfortable in dealing with these matters. If you have any questions regarding your insurance, we ask that you contact your company regarding specifics and details of your plan.
