Dr. Brea Schmidt is a pediatric dentist specializing in the treatment of infants, children, teenagers, and individuals with special health care needs. Her training included dental school and two additional years of specialized training in pediatric dentistry. She attended the University of Iowa for her undergraduate studies and obtained her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. She then completed a two-year post-graduate residency specializing in pediatric dentistry at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. During her residency, Dr. Brea provided comprehensive clinical care for children of all ages including emergency care, procedures in the dental office using conscious sedation, and treatment in the operating room under general anesthesia. Dr. Brea also had significant training in the care of children with special healthcare needs. She routinely worked with individuals on the cleft palate team, hemophilia team, and patients receiving inpatient care at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Dr. Brea believes in professional and community involvement and is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, Iowa Dental Association, and the Iowa Society of Pediatric Dentists. She also serves on the local Headstart Health Advisory Board and is the president of the Spencer School Foundation Board.
Dr. Brea dedicates herself to providing the best dental care possible for her patients, insuring that they have a positive and fun experience while learning to care for their own oral health. She places heavy emphasis on developing good oral hygiene habits with your child so that dental decay can be prevented for a lifetime.
Dr. Brea lives in Spencer, Iowa where she was born and raised. She and her husband, Nate, have three children, Maisy, Louie, and Willa.. They also have a dog named Gus. In her free time she enjoys running, reading, being outdoors, and spending time with her family and friends.
